Butterfly Dress

I am so proud of myself. I sat down & gave shirring a go, you know those tops/dresses you see with lots of thin rows of fine elastic which gathers the material. Well I bought this lovely material a while back & never got a chance to sit down & try it out, untill the other day. I am so impressed with how it turned out. Its so cute!

What do you think?

My Last nappy for now & my 2nd soaker attempt.

I bought another Sandman Nappy. One of the bamboo ones. I love the print. Its so cute & its sparkles! Works really well too. I loved my wildchild babmboo nappy but the fit wasn't quite right. So I got a SM Bamboo. Its great. This will probably be the last nappy I buy for a while. Simon made a comment about not saving any money buy using cloth, so I think I better put myself on a nappy ban!

I also finsihed knitting my second attempt at a soaker. I made this one for little Laila. Its not nice & girly but still I like the colours. I was going to add a ribbed cuff tot he leg holes but I can't figure it out so I will just leave it as is for now. Maybe I will try that with the next one I try.

NewBorn Nappies

No I am not PG.
I just wanted to try some newborn sizes. I made the white one first. I hate sewing with Bamboo Velour. Its too slippy & imo doesn't make a very neat looking nappy. Well at least no my nappy pattern anyway. The second is much better.

More Nappies

I have been busy making more nappies. I have used a combo of Flannel outters & SL sherpa cotton fleece. They are all fitted with either Bamboo, Hemp, flannel for the soaker pad. Most have a full body of bamboo,. 2 or 3 have double sided terry cotton as I ran out of bamboo to use for the body. I mucked around a bit with my pattern & some are not that fantastic a fit, like the pale blue with flowers in the corner. I also missplaced the snaps on that nappy but with a well fitting cover its fine.

I also made a night nappy. It worked fantastic. BUT I made a boo boo with placing the snaps after closing the nappy up & then discovered the layers were too thick for the snaps to go on right so had to butcher the outter layer to get them on but it doesn't look to bad & I plan on doing a bit more plastic surgery to it to hide my stuff up lol. But mostly just to make sure it doesn't fall apart in the wash more then anything. I don't care about the "looks" of the nappy. I am going to make another the same.

I have a few other projects up my sleeve but for now thats a secret.
