Our Pets

We have a Boxer named Zoe, she is as much a part of our family as our Cat Honey. Both are great family members who are great, no FANTASTIC with the children & each other.
Zoe is a white Boxer & she came into a family just before Evans 1st birthday. She was born on the 16th of June 2003. I was working at the North Richmond Vet surgery & we had a breeder come in with a litter of about 8 boxer pups. I have been a fan of boxers since working at the Kurnada Vet Surgery where we had Stewart the clinic dog, who was a Red Boxer. He was a great dog, sadily he passed away after making a piggy of himself in someones garbage. But thats sad & another post altogether..
Back to Zoe, when the breeder came in I asked how much her pups sell for. Her reply was because they are top show lines (father an italian champ & mother a canada champ, if I remember correctly...) that these pups would easily go for $900 a pup. My jaw hit the floor (I personally would never pay money like that for a dog). But the little white one she would probably let go for $100 as she is no good as a show or breeding dog because of her colour. I obvioulsy showed an interest as she then went on to say, Or free to a good home. I was sold & she came home that afternoon. Simon wasn't so sure, but Evans birthday was coming up & I said she was a present for Evan. She is now almost 4 years old & loves her toys. She is soooo good with the kids & the cat. Here she is with her newest toy, she got so excited over this one as it made the strangest noise. She even buried it in a box of potting mix!

Then we have Honey, the male black cat. He came into our family, along with is brother Tut in 2005. Sadily Tut was hit by a car & after having one of his front legs removed & the developing a very hard/expensive to treat problem we (and my we I mean I, as I was the only one who was sensible about it) decided to have him put to sleep. The medication needed to treat his condition was over $100 per bottle that would last about 4 weeks, plus he wasn't happy, you could tell he had had enough.

Honey is also a great pet, he is great with the kids, has never scratched or bitten them & he takes alot of crap from them, tail pulled, fists of fur yanked, squished, chased etc. he just takes it all in his stride. If he has had enough he just flops on the floor & puts up with them lying on him till he let him out side for a break. He loves to sleep with the boys & is often found snuggled up with them in the mornings. He has the biggest purr too!
Honey with the boys...
Tut, after his amputation but before he got really sick.
