Seven years strong.

Today is our 7th wedding anniversary.
Each wedding anniversary we have stuck with the "traditional" gift according to the years we have been married.

When we married we had Lily's on our cake & my flowers where Lily's & Iris's.
So each year I have either made or bought something sticking to the theme of the traditional gift but kept it as something to do with or is a Lily. I have set myself quite a task that's proving to be harder to maintain as the years go on. People who I have told about my little tradition think I'm nuts. I thought I would share with you the items I have made.

1st year was paper. I made paper lily's the same (well similar) to those that cascaded down our cake. When we moved from QLD to NSW the originals got crushed. So I thought it was the perfect idea of getting those flowers back.

2nd was cotton. That year I bought fake Lily's & iris's that were made up in a medievil style of ern/vase thing.

3rd year was Leather. I made leather lily's made from white leather & yellow beads. I made up 3 sets of 3, Only 2 in the photo though.

4th year was flowers. That year we went on a family holiday to cairns, so agreed that would be our gift to each other. Its the only year I haven't bought or made something "lily" But we visited the gardens we married in while in Cairns.
5th year was Wood. This year left me a little stumped so I thought out side the "lily" square a little & bought Simon a tree (wood) which is called a "lily of the valley tree" .

6th year was Iron. Again proved to be a head scratcher. I bought an Iron hanging planter basket with lily bulbs to plant inside it.

7th year is Wool or Copper. This year I have made more lily's. I found some wool felt (actual wool, not synthetic) and a copper chain & using copper clasps & copper wire I made a hanging chain of 7 lily's. The only part of this thats not wool or cooper is the little bit of cotton used to secure each bottom of the lily, under the copper clasp.

Next year is Bronze or pottery. Time to get my thinking cap on.

I love Simon as much if not more then the day we married & even more then when we met which will be 12 years in October. I truly did find my soul mate.
